Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is a type of massage that treats damaged, knotted, tense or stiff muscles by stimulating blood supply to help make joints more mobile. This is done by using a range of therapeutic massage techniques. Remedial massage targets an area of the body and isn’t usually a full body treatment.
Remedial Massage can vary in pressure and focus on the finer structure of the joint, ligaments and muscles. The aim is to have you return to usual daily levels. The appointment may include soft tissue therapy techniques such as deep tissue, trigger point, stretching/PNF stretching (combination of passive stretching and isometric contraction with a muscle, joint mobilisation, myofascial dry needling and myofascial cupping.

Sports Massage
Sports Massage is commonly used as part of treatment for people involved in sport or for people with demanding physical jobs. It is designed to assist sports performance, flexibility, range of motion and prepare muscles for optimal performance. This may be leading up to an event to prevent injury during training, just prior to an event, during or post event to aid recovery.
Cupping
Myofascial Cupping is an effective method integrated into treatment which can be another way of assisting pain management. Myofascial Cupping can reduce scarring, correctly align collagen during the repair phase and assist with the reduction of localised inflammation and
aids recovery by increasing nutrient-rich blood supply to an injured area.
Myofascial cupping has many therapeutic benefits which also includes reducing the sympathetic
nervous system and passively stretches soft tissue. The clients choice to use cupping as a treatment often sees sports people to office workers feeling the relief from the treatment.
Cupping refers to an ancient Chinese practice in which a plastic cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup is reduced by suctioning out air so that the skin and superficial muscle layer is drawn into and held in the cup. One technique is to move the cup slowly to lift and separate the tissue and fascia to create extra blood flow to the intended area.
Cupping can be applied to certain acupuncture points as well as to regions of the body that are affected by pain and assists in reducing pain.
Myofascial Dry Needling
Myofascial Dry Needling is an effective treatment technique that targets myofascial trigger points which have become hyper irritable which can be a source of pain. The sterile single use acupuncture needle is inserted into active trigger points or tight bands of muscle with the purpose to deactive or act like a circuit breaker to stop pain.
It can also be effective when used to “wake up” lazy muscles or muscles that are not firing that may be due to
surgery for example. This helps to decrease muscle pain and myofascial dysfunction.
Relaxation
Relaxation Massage will help calm your nervous system and assist to reduce stress and calm the mind. With a decrease in stress it may help to improve your focus to tackle daily tasks. It is important to take some time for yourself and slow down.

- Calms the nervous system
- Lowers the levels of the stress hormone - Cortisol
Pregnancy
The benefits of pregnancy massage includes relaxation / stress relief, better sleep, reduction in pain from eg low back and hips, assists in reduction of swelling and instils an overall sense of wellbeing with the approach to birth whilst also giving some “time out”.
Massages can be performed side lying with minimal time on your back as the weeks progress with pillows used to provide more comfort.
Soft Tissue Therapy is safe to receive while are in your first trimester provided that you do not have any known risk factors that would classify you as high risk. This may include the following, diabetes, high blood pressure, severe morning sickness, pre-eclampsia or previous history of miscarriage.
Please consult your GP prior to massage treatment if you suspect you may have any risk factors.

Often a client needs to seek advice from other health professionals such as sports doctors and physiotherapists. This is encouraged to best achieve your health needs. Faye will be supportive of this and will also refer clients when required, if the injury/issue is beyond her scope of practice.
